Highlights
• As of 02 November, the cumulative number of confirmed, probable and suspected cases of Ebola virus disease (EVD) in Sierra Leone has reached 4,686, with a total of 1,062 deaths.
• Partners are scaling up the response in Port Loko, with the setup of a Command and Control Centre (ambulance and safe burials management) and the opening of the country’s first two Community Care Centres (CCCs).
• There is a growing incidence of families leaving their quarantined homes due to lack of food and non-food items.
• So far, at least 873 children have been orphaned by EVD. Schools remain closed across the country. Education programmes are broadcast daily on TV channels and radio stations nationwide.
• Social Mobilisation is on-going, and scaling up in Koinadugu, which had no cases until October but has now reported 55 confirmed and probable cases.
